The Method

Harnessing the brain’s natural ability to self-correct—for clearer thinking, emotional balance, and lasting wellness.

Your Session Experience

Each NeurOptimal® session is a calming and restorative experience designed to support your brain's natural ability to self-regulate. You'll begin by settling into a comfortable recliner in a peaceful setting with soft music, and  lavender-colored walls. Small sensors are gently placed on your scalp and ears to monitor brain activity—completely non-invasively.

While you relax and listen to soothing music, the system provides real-time feedback through brief pauses in sound, gently guiding the brain to notice and correct its own patterns. Children may sit in a cozy beanbag or engage in quiet table activities during their session.

A Standard Session lasts 45 minutes, including a brief check-in before and after, with 33 minutes of active brain training. For those seeking deeper support, the Extended Session offers 66 minutes of brain training, with a break at the halfway point, along with opening and closing check-ins.

NeurOptimal® vs. Traditional Neurofeedback

Train the Brain, Naturally

At Neuro Wellness Westchester, clients benefit from the latest advancements in brain training with the NeurOptimal® Dynamical Neurofeedback® system.  Unlike traditional neurofeedback, NeurOptimal® is based on the understanding that the brain is a highly intelligent, self-organizing system—capable of using real-time information to improve its own functioning, without being told what to do.

A Mirror for the Mind

Rather than diagnosing or forcing the brain into specific patterns, NeurOptimal® acts like a mirror—providing moment-to-moment feedback that helps the brain notice and correct its own inefficiencies.  This non-invasive, holistic approach supports the brain’s natural self-regulation, leading to benefits such as:

  • Improved mental clarity

  • Greater emotional balance

  • Enhanced cognitive performance and well-being

Real-World Impact

One example of the results of this Mirroring the Mind process was described by a mother raising a child on the autism spectrum. She observed meaningful changes in her child, including increased verbal communication, more consistent eye contact, greater displays of affection, and a growing desire to connect with others.

Beyond Symptom Management

Most traditional neurofeedback systems take a directive, linear approach—targeting specific symptoms or states and training the brain to conform.
NeurOptimal®, on the other hand, empowers the brain to choose its own path to optimal functioning, resulting in more comprehensive and lasting improvements—both cognitively and emotionally.
